Who do you go to when time is against you and a visit from the EHO is imminent?

Cattle Country Farm Park was opened in 1992 by Tony and Sue Cullimore, the owners of Berkeley Heath Farm in Gloucestershire. They were looking for ways to diversify their farming business and decided to open their farm to the public and local schools to showcase rare breeds of cattle. Since then, Cattle Country has grown from a small open farm, to a popular UK family attraction, with outdoor play areas, animal encounters, boating lake, mini-golf and tractor rides.

Cattle Country has long been a Chemex customer, servicing their wedding venue facility and the Adventure Farm Park itself. In March whilst servicing the wedding venue, Brett (the local Chemex Expert) was introduced to the new Chef & Catering Manager, hired specifically for the launch of the brand new Graze Café, set within the grounds of Cattle Country.

Toni Cullimore, Owner, said; “We couldn't have done what we did, in the very short timeframe without the support we received from Brett and Chemex. Having your chosen hygiene partner onsite at 7am on a Saturday morning says it all really."

After a site audit and assessment, Brett outlined what would be required to ensure the new facility could run smoothly from a cleaning and hygiene management standpoint. Then, after the green light set to work installing dispensers, dosing equipment, advising on equipment storage and various other bits and pieces ready for the grand opening in March. In the build-up to opening even Tony Cullimore, owner of Cattle Country, was getting involved, laying bark and adding final touches. They had a new building, new equipment, a new chef and a carefully crafted launch plan when lockdown arrived

An email announced they expected to be closed for three to six months, devastating for the business as the spring and summer months are the busiest.

Then, in late June Brett (local Chemex Expert) had a call to ask if he could come back to site and work with the Cattle Country team to ensure that when the park re-opened it would be as safe as possible (COVID secure), for the limited number of visitors they would be allowed to accommodate from July 4th. This meant 17 hand sanitiser stations to cover the attractions and disinfection points for everything from crazy golf equipment to very large jumping pillows and life jackets.

7am Saturday 4th July came around, and Brett was onsite finishing the install, as the gates were due to open at 10am, and life was breathed back into the park with some very happy and lively children!

Then, much to the relief of the struggling hospitality industry, 'Eat Out to Help Out' was launched in August. For the Graze Cafe this could not have come at a better time, as far as raising its profile was concerned and making up for those lost summer months. Kitchen and front of house staff worked tirelessly to cope with the extra demand and all were grateful for the respite come August 30th, or would have been had their local Environmental Health Officer not chosen to do his first official inspection.

Once again all the staff pulled together and Brett was on hand for a few of the more detailed bits. The new Chef and Catering Manager was busy washing anything that stood still, even though it was spotless and Graze was poised for the inspection.

Needless to say, a 5 Star rating followed, anything less would have been disappointing but given what the team had been through over the past few months this was one of those times where five stars really meant something special and a testament to the Graze team and Brett for going the extra mile.
